Sam O’Connell

Sam O’Connell is a 21-year-old Australian Folk musician from the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Sam had a guitar placed in his hand at the age of 7 years old and continued learning and mastering his craft for years to come. At the age of 16 he stumbled across a YouTube video of John Butler performing his instrumental piece “Ocean”. This moment truly inspired Sam to go full force with his music and guitar playing and from that point on he made it his mission to learn “Ocean” with no reference other than the YouTube Video. Sam would play and learn for hours and hours every single day without fail, and during this process he began to find what his guitar style was shaping to be. After learning “Ocean” he researched similar musicians and the influences started coming in from multiple different artists, increasing his musical knowledge and altering his style constantly. Sam’s main musical influences include Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, John Butler Trio, The Last Bison, Passenger, Ed Sheeran, Ziggy Alberts, Bon Iver, Dean Lewis and plenty more. After playing hundreds and hundreds of shows all over Australia since the beginning of his career, Sam is continuing to play regularly all over Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula and has gained a solid fan base. With his raw and beautiful storytelling vocals, his incredible intricate and delicate guitar work and his upbeat and uplifting percussion, Sam is the whole package and always puts on a show that will captivate all audiences. Sam is an incredibly hard worker and a very professional musician. Sam will continue to play hundreds more shows and wow every crowd he plays to.
